Last night was our first night in Memphis, and since we decided to upgrade to a decent hotel we decided to stay in and enjoy our nice air conditioned room. We thought we would order for dinner, to our horror no one wanted to deliver to us because we were in the industrial area and a little harder to get to. Lucky for us Pizza Hut (puke) said they would deliver to us. I didn't care we would have eaten anything at this point. Two hrs later Terry called them and they said they had delivered to this hotel already...someone got our pizza. They said they could come back out but not for an hour and a half. Terry said to forget it He then went into a state of fear that he was going to have to go to bed without dinner. You haven't seen Terry when he is hungry, he was sure he would die thru the night. After all, he only ate 2 egg Mcmuffins, 2 hashbrowns, juice, several coffees, and all he could eat rib ends with beans, coleslaw and garlic toast. He was actually shocked that he woke up this morning ! He could barely get dressed fast enough to go down for the continental breakfast (I must admit I was hungry as well). He made up for lack of dinner..he ate sausages, fried potatoes, bisquits (sp) and gravy, eggs and a massive waffle along with 2 orange juice and coffee. Where does he put it all. Will be interesting to weigh in when we get home. The temperature is a little cooler today, 78 degrees, but the humidity is not high here yet, they say. We went on on riverboat cruise down the Mississippi river today. There is so much history here and we had a very entertaining guide. He told us many things but my mind is a sieve and don't recall much of what he said. I went to my happy place in my head and enjoyed the warm sun and the wonderful breeze. We then spent the rest of the afternoon on Beale St. What a great area, but nothing is cheap there. We stopped at an outdoor cafe for coffee and they charged us $6.50 for two watered down coffees but they did make it fresh for us. On the other hand you can buy drinks to go(you can drink on the street) for something like $2.00. We browsed thru the shops but I couldn't make myself buy any of the tacky crap. We did fall for a homeless vet and dropped him a couple bucks(his jeans and runners looked better than what we were wearing) but he said it would cost him $12.00 to spend the night in a homeless shelter with his 8 yr old daughter , we thanked him for his service and moved on. I am not a big fan of blues music, but when you are in Rome you do as the Romans do..I actually enjoyed it. We went for dinner at BB Kings restaurant, had great entertainment and the food was amazing. We had a large bucket of the meatiest shrimp I have ever tasted. We also ordered ribs and they were fall off the bone tastiest thing I have tasted in a long time. We stopped in Coyote Ugly and I left my bra behind to hang on the wall with the hundreds of others (O.K. I didn't leave my bra behind but it sounded good). Tomorrow we are doing a city bus tour and will stop by Graceland..I want my picture taken in Elvis' bed lol. Oh yeah..me and the King. Some of you know that Terry flew down to Memphis last month to keep his friend (well now he is my friend as well, whether he likes it or not) company as he was driving back to Edmonton . Terry met his family and fell in "like" with them so we are heading out to visit them tomorrow. We are hoping to take them out for some catfish for dinner. well this is it for today, hope all is well at home.
