EUREEKA...WE ARE GOING TO TO EUREKA

WE ARE HEADING TO EURAK CALIFORNIA TODAY AND SPENDING THE NEXT 2 DAYS THERE.  WE ARE SLOWLY EDGING OUR WAY HOME.  WE ARE ON DAY 24 AND I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH OF THE U.S. WE HAVE SEEN, I ALSO CAN'T BELIEVE TERRY HAS LASTED THIS LONG ON THE ROAD.  HE IS STARTING TO THINK ABOUT JOB HUNTING SO I CAN TELL HIS MIND IS STARTING TO WANDER...OF COURSE I RECOGNIZE THE SYMPTOMS..LOL.  YESTERDAY WE HIT YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK.    WOW!!!   WE WERE ON SENSORY OVERLOAD.  OUR EYES COULD HARDLY TAKE IN ALL THE BEAUTY,  THE SMELL OF CRISP, COOL AIR AND I COULD IMAGINE THE SILENCE AFTER ALL OF US TOURISTS LEFT AND OF COURSE I COULD  SEE  US ROASTING HOT DOGS OVER AN OPEN  FIRE.  BEFORE YOU ENTER THE PARK THERE OF COURSE IS THE USUAL COMMERCIALISM  LIKE AT THE GRAND CANYON BUT ONCE YOU ENTER THE PARK YOU CAN NOT SEE ANY SIGNS OF MODERN DAY...IT MUST LOOK THE SAME TODAY AS IT LOOKED 20 YEARS AGO.   THE TEMP WAS A CRISP 46 AND THERE WAS STILL SNOW TO BE FOUND.  THE ELEVATION WAS 5000 FT WHICH CAUSED SOME PEOPLE TO HAVE BREATHING ISSUES.  AGAIN WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE AND DID NOT HAVE TO PAY THE $20.00 ENTRANCE FEE...FREE DAY FOR EVERYONE.  OF COURSE BECAUSE OF THIS THE TOUR BUSES WERE NOT RUNNING AND WE DID NOT SEE AS MUCH AS WE WOULD HAVE LIKED.  THE FIRST THING WE NOTICED WHEN WE GOT INTO THE PARK WERE THE ENORMOUS SEQUOIA TREES.  THESE ENORMOUS TREES CAN LIVE FOR OVER 2 THOUSAND YEARS AND THEIR TRUNKS CAN REACH OVER 25 FEET THICK.  THE GIANT SEQUOIA NEED FIRE SO THEY CAN REPRODUCE, FIRE CLEARS AWAY THE COMPETING FIRS AND CEDAR TREES SO THE TINY SEEDS OF THE SEQUOIA CAN TAKE ROOT.  THERE IS A LOT OF WILDLIFE IN THE PARK BUT ALL WE SAW WAS A VERY TAME LOOKING COYOTE  RESTING ALONG THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.  THE TRAFFIC DID NOT DISTURB HIM AT ALL.  THE DRIVE INTO  YOSEMITE WAS STUNNING, THE KIND OF RIDE THAT MADE US WISH WE STILL HAD THE GOLDWING.   NOW THE RIDE OUT WAS ANOTHER STORY,  I WAS WHITE KNUCKLED BY THE END AND I WASN'T DOING THE DRIVING.  TERRY ADMITTED THAT IT HAD THE MOST CHALLENGING  CURVES HE HAS EVER EXPLORED..OTHER THAN MINE OF COURSE...LOL.   I KNOW..INSERT PUKE HERE.  GAS HIT THE 5.09 MARK A GALLON, AND THE DRIVER RECEIVED HIS SECOND WARNING TODAY.  A PARK RANGER WAS DRIVING TOWARD US AND FLASHED HER LIGHTS AND GAVE US THE THUMBS DOWN SIGNAL, BUT HE DID NOT GET A WRITTEN NOTICE THIS TIME.  A LOT OF THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 20 MILES PER HOUR AND AT TIMES THAT FELT TO FAST FOR ME.   I WAS GLAD NOT TO BE ON THE GOLDWING FOR THAT PART OF THE DRIVE.  WE LEFT THE PARK AND HEADED FOR OUR NEXT OVERNIGHT STAY IN PETALUMA  CALIFORNIA.   I DROVE THIS PART OF THE TRIP AND I MUST SAY FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THE ROAD I WAS NERVOUS.  CALIFORNIA DRIVERS ARE CRAZY AT RUSH HOUR.  THERE WAS A LITTLE CAR IN FRONT OF ME THAT KEPT GOING ALL OVER THE ROAD CROSSING THE LINES ON BOTH SIDES.  WHILE I WAS PASSING HIM WE DISCOVERED HE WAS EATING A HAMBURGER WITH BOTH HANDS, HE MUST HAVE BEEN USING HIS KNEES TO STEADY THE WHEEL....REALLY...HE MUST HAVE BEEN "CRAZY".    ON THE WAY TO PETALUMA I DROVE THRU SILICONE VALLEY AND I SWEAR I FELT MY BOOBS PERK UP AND MY BUTT CHEEKS TIGHTEN...LOL.  WELL THAT IS ALL FOR NOW.  HOPE ALL IS WELL AT HOME.  I WILL POST MOST PICS LATER..THE SERVICE IS SLOW TODAY.
